Students in grades K-4 can run with their friends to complete a marathon and participate in fun kindness challenges for the community! They will get to learn about goal setting, easy ways to show kindness and stop bullying, and how to help animals, veterans, seniors, hungry families and many more.  Every session of the Kindness Marathon includes:


  • Kindness Kickstarter—quick story or activity to promote everyday kindness or to meet a community need (e.g., hunger, animal welfare, senior needs, veterans, etc.). 

  • Marathon Challenge—running, jogging, or walking with friends to complete either 13.1 or 26.2 miles over the course of the year

  • Family Follow-up—summary of the unit and easy extension activities to reinforce learning


At the end of this program, students will be better able to:

  • Identify appropriate fitness goals

  • Follow a four-step process for goal achievement

  • Participate in physical activity for health, enjoyment and/or satisfaction, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction

  • Demonstrate empathy for other people’s emotions, perspectives

  • Consider the well-being of self and others when making decisions

  • Contribute productively to one’s school and community
